What a Male Boudoir Photo Session Looks like from Beginning to End
I'm sure you're wondering what a male boudoir photo session entails. What do I wear? How long is the photo session going to take? What if I get nervous during the shoot? What if I get an erection during the shoot and can't make it go away? These are all vital questions to ask. It can be intimidating to take intimate photos of yourself in front of a photographer, let alone a photographer you've never met in person before. That's why I want to clear the air and walk you through the process, from beginning to end, so you don't have to second-guess booking a male boudoir session. Let's start with the first step: A pre-planning meeting.
Pre-Planning Session
Every male boudoir session starts with a pre-planning meeting. Pre-planning sessions are done primarily over zoom or phone calls. It's a chance for me to get to know my clients and for them to get to know me. This first interaction is so important because it helps clarify misconceptions, understand the vibe of the photoshoot, and most importantly, see that you're in safe hands, working with a photographer who is friendly, knowledgable, and easy to talk to. Pre-planning meetings are generally thirty to forty-five minutes long. I go over what clothes to bring to your session, what you desire most from the session, and what boundaries you'd like to set before the session, so there is no second-guessing during the shoot. I ask what you are comfortable with, such as being photographed in partial clothing, just underwear, or fully nude. I also ask what parts of your body you love most and how we can showcase that best through the camera. Last but not least, I make sure to put your mind at ease by clarifying that a male boudoir session is all about empowering you and making you feel confident. If at any point during the session you feel uncomfortable or want to take a break, then we can stop and will resume whenever you're ready. Oh, and if an unexpected erection occurs during the session, no need to worry! There is nothing to be ashamed about, and if that's not the direction you want to go, we can take a break until things cool down. By no means will I, as a professional boudoir photographer, ever ask a client to go beyond their boundaries or to do anything they feel uncomfortable doing. The pre-planning session is a great start to having those hard conversations and making sure this boudoir session is all about you. Now, let's chat about the next step in the process: the male boudoir photo session.
Two Hour Photoshoot
The male boudoir photo session is an experience and is about two hours in length. I've worked with several clients and two hours is just the right amount of time to let men get comfortable in front of the camera. Plus, during that time, I work hard to get a variety of angles, poses, and different lighting scenarios. The male boudoir experience is a time to let loose, own your body and see yourself in a new light.
Every session starts with clothes on. As you feel more comfortable and confident, we begin to unravel the layers of clothing to whatever you feel most comfortable in. I always tell my clients to start in an outfit that makes them feel sexy and positive, like a new shirt or nice pants that makes them feel on top of the world. Throughout the session, we will capture a variety of looks and different outfits, playing music and talking all along the way. A male boudoir session is all about open communication with clients and making sure they are comfortable every step of the way. Once the session comes to the end, we talk about how to pick your favorite photos and how to purchase prints.
Online Gallery
After every male boudoir session, clients receive a secure online gallery link with the photos from their session. They will receive instructions on how to pick their favorites to be edited. I take each photo and process them through Photoshop, paying close attention to detail. My editing process includes removing blemishes off the face, making sure lighting is correct, color grading and removing distracting objects from the background. Every photo is checked for quality and sharpness to make sure I'm handing over the best product to my client. Once the photos from the male boudoir session are edited, I upload them to the gallery link and give clients a download code. Clients then have the option of purchasing prints or a custom photo album.
