Let's Talk About It
You may be asking yourself, "What if I'm not ready for a male boudoir session? What if there are things I'm still working on, like the shape of my body, or building confidence in myself?" Those are both very valid questions, and the best way to answer them is to explain the purpose of a male boudoir photoshoot.
Male boudoir is about where you are now, not where you "should" be.
A lot of men think that they should have a certain physique, or lose X amount of weight before even considering a male boudoir session. Although I understand where you are coming from, the point of a male boudoir session is to learn to accept who you are in this very moment. It's not about having the chiseled body, six-pack abs, and huge biceps. A male boudoir photoshoot is about presenting yourself most authentically and learning to accept your body for what it looks like now. If you are like me, I was obsessed with looking a certain way, going to the gym up to 6 times a week, and yet still dissatisfied with my results. No matter how hard I worked on my body, I just wasn't "good enough." I don't want you to fall under the same trap, where you put off doing a male boudoir session because you're always chasing a "better-looking body." The very act of doing a male boudoir session is to learn to be confident in your skin and see yourself in a new light. Sometimes you have to go through an experience to change the way to view yourself. Male boudoir is the perfect opportunity for you to do that. If you still aren't convinced, then let's help you meet your fitness/body weight goals by giving you a deadline.
Scheduling your session in advance will give you a goal to work on.
Although male boudoir is about accepting yourself now, I understand that some individuals want to lose a little weight, or build some muscle before their shoot. My best suggestion is to schedule your session in advance, that way you have a goal you are working towards. If you know that your boudoir session is in 3 months, then you'll feel a lot more motivated to hit the gym regularly and meet your fitness goals. Again, if you don't look "perfect" by the time your shoot rolls around, that's okay! The fact that you worked so hard before your shoot is a celebration within itself, and what better way to celebrate your success than to get some sexy photos of yourself. Schedule a session now and let it be a motivation for you to get into shape and prepare for your shoot. But wait, what if my issue isn't about my body, it's about my confidence in myself and being in front of the camera? I have a solution for that.
The very act of doing a male boudoir session will build your confidence.
Think about the first time you rode a bike. You had no clue what you were doing, and I guarantee you took a few falls. You were probably pretty nervous and anxious about the whole experience, not knowing what to expect and why it looked so easy for others, but for you, it wasn't. However, you did not learn to ride a bike by yourself. Someone was there, teaching you and watching you the whole time until you could ride on your own. A male boudoir session is very similar. You can't learn to ride a bike without actually getting on a bike and trying it. Similarly, you can't expect to be confident in your own body until you allow yourself to be seen. It's 100 percent normal for anyone to be nervous or anxious for their male boudoir session, but I guarantee that by the end of the session all your nerves will be eliminated. The very act of putting yourself in front of the camera, and working with an experienced boudoir photographer, will help you build that confidence. I'm not only taking pictures of you, but I'm also posing you in a way that is empowering and positive. You are learning how to be confident by going through the male boudoir experience, just like you learned to ride a bike by getting on the bike and going through the motions. You may not feel 100 percent prepared for your boudoir session, but I guarantee that by going through the motions, you will walk away from a session feeling more confident, sexy, and positive about yourself and your body.
So, are you ready for your male boudoir experience? I think so, you just have to believe in yourself enough to go through it and embrace it.
