The Desert: Outdoor Male Boudoir Sessions are Back
There’s something about the desert that changes the energy of a shoot. As a professional male boudoir photographer, I love what I do. I oftentimes shoot in a studio, where I have total control of the lighting and looks. However, in the recent years, I've discovered an outdoor place perfect for boudoir sessions with a desert/summer look. When you step out into the vastness of the Utah landscape—with the mountains behind you and the wind in your hair—your boudoir session becomes something else entirely.
It becomes raw. It becomes rugged. It becomes limitless.
A Summer Vibe to Remember
Last year, I headed out to my hidden spot, a secluded desert spot, with a client who wanted to capture something truly unique. He brought a range of looks that perfectly bridged the gap between a "sun-kissed summer" and high-end boudoir.
We started with a playful, editorial feel: cut-off jean shorts, a crop top, and sunglasses. It felt like a classic summer afternoon. But as the sun began to dip toward the horizon, we leaned into the "Golden Hour" depth that you just can't replicate indoors.
The "Wet Look" in the Wild
One of my absolute favorite moments from last year was when we experimented with a "wet look" in the middle of the desert.
The client was in just his underwear, and we drenched his torso with water right using high contrast lighting. The result? Incredible. It looked as if he had just emerged from a hidden lake or a private pool. It was sensual, bold, and showcased his physique in a way that felt both artistic and effortless.
That’s the magic of an outdoor male boudoir session—it’s about finding that balance between the man and the elements.
What to Expect: Privacy & Preparation
I know the first question most guys have: "Is it private?"
Absolutely. I’ve spent time scouting a specific, secluded location where we won't be disturbed. This is a space where you can fully be yourself, whether you’re rocking a jockstrap or going fully nude.
Because we’re trading the climate-controlled studio for the elements, your gear list looks a little different for these:
- The Essentials: Bring sandals for walking between setups and a robe to stay comfortable and covered between shots.
- The Aesthetic: Sunglasses for those editorial looks, and sunscreen or body oil to make your skin glisten under the Utah sun.
- The Energy: Come ready to feel empowered. There is a specific kind of confidence that comes from being out in the open air, feeling the heat, and capturing your body in its most natural state.
Limited Window: Booking for July & August
Outdoor sessions are a seasonal specialty. Due to the weather and that specific "summer light" I look for, I only offer these sessions during July and August.
If you want a look that is bold, rugged, and completely different from a traditional studio session, this is your window. Whether you want to celebrate a fitness milestone or just want to see yourself through a more adventurous lens, let’s head out to the desert and create something legendary.
